Today marks the inaugural Express Entry draw of 2024, focusing on 24 STEM occupations, with 4,500 invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residency dispatched. This much-anticipated STEM-targeted draw arrives after approximately four months, reflecting a notable uptick in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score to 491 compared to the previous STEM-only draw.

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Here are the specifics of today’s STEM-focused Express Entry draw:

    • Category: STEM Occupations
    • Number of Invitations Issued: 4,500
    • Minimum Rank Required to be Invited to Apply: 4,500 or above
    • Date and Time of Draw: April 11, 2024, at 13:23:42 UTC
    • CRS Score of Lowest-Ranked Candidate Invited: 491

What is Express Entry?

Express Entry serves as the application management system for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.

Under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), candidates from all programs are ranked against each other.

Candidates accrue points based on various human capital factors, including age, work experience, education, occupation, and language proficiency.

Those with the highest cumulative scores have the best chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence status from IRCC.
As per the department’s service standard, candidates should typically receive a response from IRCC within six months of submitting their final application.
